What are the pros and cons of the Diablo?

Thinking about getting one. I'll my engine dyno tuned professionally, but the others features of this look like they might be handy as well.

Haven't used one. I am going to try to do a couple of tests between the Predator, Hypertech, and Crane's new tuner.

Going to see how well I can tune a H/C car with each.

the best way to tune these cars is with Ls1edit on the dyno
the hand held units are VERY limited

hand held tuners are a waste of time and money. Save your money for Edit or hptuners -- which ever you like.

Yes, I wasted 400 bucks when I could went and got a tune and edit or HP tuners, I have the diablo, waste of money, I got a custom tune from the seller and it was junk, screwed up everything, car ran pig rich, HP tuners took care of that tune for me. Cool

Okay, I understand that for TUNING the engine, there are better ways.

But what about the other features of the Predator? Do you guys ever use them? How does it fare as simply a diagnostic tool?

I have never used one. I would like a smaller scan tool, just to scan, as opposed to always having to use my laptop. The options that are out there seem to be something like offered from Ease (www.obd2.com) for either a Palm type device or their remote logger (it is pricey).

Would be interested in knowing what all a Predator can scan. Although from their website, it looks like it can only capture scan data for Fords. http://www.diablosport.com/U7777.php

I had a Predator....
and it was cool when I had a lid and new catback.
You can adjust your A/F by 10%, read codes etc.
but it is vin locked and all you can do with it is your car, and read codes for friends.

but once I was ready to do the H/C, headers and Pulley ( did it all in one weekend) it was not the same game.

Plus I had started asking James for my Custom tune 3 weeks before I needed it..

I never got it, ordered HP Tuners, got it in 3 days.
3 days later with a buddys help she was running ok

3 weeks later with me learning she was running nice

3 months, she is almost like stock manners with much more HP..

ANd I can help any 01 LS1 f-body buds out,
other years also, but you have to copy and paste instead of just open and down load. Smile

I have a Predator sitting in my closet; used it a few times, got frustrated with what it doesn't do;
ended up getting EFILive FlashScan, would have been cheaper in the long term if I had done this first.
